Video 4 - Choosing your battles

Sweating the small stuff. Maybe you don't like your tween or teen’s haircut or choice of clothes or friends. Before your step in I encourage you to look at the big picture. If it's not putting your child at risk, give him/her the leeway to make age-appropriate decisions and learn from the consequences of his/her choices. A lot of parents don't want growing up to involve any pain, disappointment, or failure but, protecting them from the realities of life takes away the value of learning from experience. Be there, be the guide and safety net. You are still the parent. This week challenge yourself to step back and take a really good look at the things you fuss about, are they that serious?
